What were the most popular tiling trends of 2021?

Before we say goodbye to 2021, and welcome 2022, let’s take a look at some of the tiling trends that have been popular this year. These include:

  • beige colours
  • terracotta tiles
  • patterned tiles
  • grid tiling layouts

Beige, beige and beige

Neutral colours have never not been fashionable, especially for tiling. Greys, browns and creams have long been popular for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and conservatories because of their ability to suit any style home. However, during 2021, we have seen that this emphasis turned towards the color beige.

Terracotta Tiles

Textured and natural, terracotta tiles were key for kitchens and hallways throughout 2021. Paired with pastels or cut into large shape tiles, terracotta tiles have had a stylistic makeover this year, and they just might be key for 2022 too.

Patterned Tiles

Never out of fashion, patterned tiles are always popular. Especially for feature walls and areas designed to draw the eye. However, during 2021, geometric patterned tiles became increasingly popular, replacing more traditional floral designs.

Grid tiles

Subway tiles might rule the roost, and they probably always will. But grid tiling layouts have been a strong competitor in 2021, with an increasing number of homes opting for square tiles, rather than rectangular. Square tiles arranged in a grid, using bold and bright colours have been extremely popular for contemporary homes in the past year.
