Choosing border tiles for the hallway

Choosing the right tiles to create a stylish and effective border in the hallway can be a challenge. So, here are our top tips:

  • Match your tiles with the style of the room- if you are opting for a traditional, Victorian theme, choose border tiles that will match with your intended style. Plain rectangular terracotta tiles can be very effective when used around the edge of a Victorian effect tiled floor. The border tiles will draw attention to the intricate patterned tiles inside the border.
  • Dont forget the walls- hallway tiling doesn’t just need to focus on the floor tiling though. Wall tiling in the hallway can be just as striking and effective. A border here could be vertical, up the wall at various points, or horizontal. Choose tiles in the same shape and style, just an alternative colour, to create a subtle, understated effect. Or opt for patterned tiles to provide the WOW factor.
  • Tile shape- why not experiment with tiles of different shapes, to create your hallway border. In a contemporary hallway in particular, this can be very effective. Hexagonal tiles, and triangular tiles can both be a good option.
  • Textured tiling– adding textured tiles to create a stylish border effect can be a great option for any style hallway.
