A mosaic feature can be a good addition to any bathroom, contemporary or traditional. But what should you consider when designing an effective bathroom mosaic feature?
What are the important considerations for designing an effective bathroom mosaic feature?
Mosaics can be used effectively in either traditional or contemporary bathrooms, depending on the style of the tile and the pattern. But to make sure that this is effective, there are a number of things to consider. These include:
- Start simple- if this is your first mosaic, don’t try and recreate a classical work of art. Instead start simple and straight forward. This has the added benefit of being better suited to a contemporary bathroom, where too detailed a design could detract from the uncluttered, smooth edges.
- Match your theme- if you have a traditional bathroom, a traditional tiled mosaic would be perfect. For this you might consider a floral or bird themed design. In contrast, a modern or contemporary bathroom would benefit from a more abstract design, with a simple pattern.
- Match your colours- again your mosaic might be a feature but it doesn’t need to stick out like a sore thumb, and nor should it. Instead, you should choose tiling colours that match your overall colour theme. Whether that is softer neutral tones, or a bright secondary colour, either way, choose something to match your colour scheme.
