Grid tiling is an effective and straight forward tiling choice for many homes. What are the do’s and dont’s of grid tiling?

There are several things you should do when installing grid tiling, but there are a range of other things that you should also avoid. These include:

  • DO choose tiles colours carefully- whether you want to create plain background tiling for the entire room, or you want to make a feature wall or tiling statement, you will need to choose the right tile colours. This can include alternating colours, creating a colour gradient or fade, or even using the same colour throughout.
  • DON’T forget to use tile spacers- you might think that its fairly easy to lay tiles in a grid layout, but the gaps between each tile need to be equal all across the space. This means that tile spacers are an essential, and should not be forgotten.
  • DO use grout colour to make a statement- if you are creating a feature wall, you can use grout colour to really help the tiles stand out and create a visual feature. Contrasting grout colour can be very effective. However, for plain background tiling, you may want to stick with regular grout colours instead.
