At this time of year, many industries take a look back at the defining trends for the previous year, to help better predict the trends of the future. So, what were the tiling trends that were influential last year, particularly in the kitchen? And what are the kitchen tiling trends that have defined 2023.
What are the kitchen tiling trends that have defined 2023?
The kitchen is often viewed as the heart of the home, and that’s why combing style and practicality is so important here. The kitchen tiles are no exception. And last year, there have been several popular kitchen tiling trends, including:
- Large format shapes- From hexagons to triangles, large format floor tiles in a range of unusual shapes are a unique and interesting way to decorate a space, as well as being incredibly practical. These have been used effectively with timber effect shaped tiles, as well as stone effect and textured tiles to bring character and style to any kitchen space.
- Victorian floor tiles- Last year saw a resurgence in Victorian tiling, and this is very popular in kitchens, especially for traditional or rustic properties. The most effective Victorian kitchen tiling includes patterned floral designs as well as checkerboard tiling layouts and the timeless and very effective terracotta tiles.
- Mosaic tiling- perfect for feature walls and kitchen splash backs, mosaic tiling doesn’t just involve highly decorative designs. Instead, many contemporary kitchens use mosaic tiling to add texture, colour and stylish abstract or geometric design to the kitchen. This adds personality and character to the space.
