Easy ways to update your tiling

When it comes to your tiling especially in kitchens and bathrooms, it can be a good idea to refresh your design and style every few years. And you’d be amazed how much new life this can breathe into your room. But when replacing your tiles takes too much time, or money, making small tiling changes can be a better option. But how can you make minor changes to your tiling, without ruining your space? Well, here at Tiles 2 Go, we are Preston’s leading tiling professionals, and this is our guide to everything you should know about updating your tiles easily and effectively.

What are the easy ways to update your tiling?

How can you refresh your tiling, without re-tiling the whole area? Well, you could consider:

  • Re-grouting your tiles with a different grout colour- when its time to re-grout your tiles, why not make a simple change? Instead of replacing old grout with new grout of the same colour, use a different colour instead. For white tiles, a dark grey or black grout can make an effective, unusual effect. While for coloured tiles, white or grey grouting is a good option. For plain areas of tiling, this can create visual interest and an attractive feature. However, this is not possible for all tiles in all styles.
  • Creating a tile border- simply remove one row of tiles, around the room, and replace these with patterned tiles, textured tiles, or tiles in a different colour, to totally transform any space.
  • Replace alternating tiles- for a small splashback area or feature wall, you could consider replacing alternate tiles with tiles of a different colour. This can take more time than re-grouting or creating a tile border, but the end result can be stunning.
