Using patterned tiles in a contemporary bathroom

Patterns and contemporary are not usually two words you hear in the same sentence. Unless someone is describing opposites. But honestly we can assure you, there are several ways that patterned tiles can work effectively as part of the most contemporary bathroom. Here at Tiles 2 Go, we are Preston’s leading tiling experts. As a result, we have produced this guide to using patterned tiles in a contemporary bathroom.

Patterned tiles for the floor

While traditional bathrooms might opt for the classic checkerboard or some Victorian inspired tiling patterns, patterns in the contemporary bathroom are all about shape and colour.

Take for example, large format hexagonal tiles. Available in a variety of colours, from natural stone effects, to black and white, these can look incredible across your bathroom floor.

In contrast, why not consider grey-scale patterned tiles. Instead of choosing a floral or traditional design, opt for something more abstract. This will be better suited for the contemporary theme. Again large format tiles can be more effective than usual size tiles, depending on the space available.

Patterned tiles for the walls

Again, with patterned wall tiles in a contemporary bathroom you should be thinking about shape. Geometry is tipped to be huge this year.

For example, triangular tiles can be arranged by colour to create a fantastic geometric wall pattern suitable for a splash-back or feature wall. Arrange by shade for a fade in or fade out effect, or blend colours for a more abstract result.

Alternatively, why not consider using a grey-scale patterned tile, mixed with other natural stone effect tiles, in the ratio of 1:3. Arranged in the grid layout, this can be incredibly effective for your shower enclosure or splash-back area. The patterned tiles will draw attention to your tiling feature without creating visual clutter.
